A smile is the same in          every language…

You are a member of this community who cares about the well-being of all of its members.  You understand how difficult it is for people to move here from another country without knowing English.  Perhaps your natural empathy for the hurdles these folks face stems from the experience of your own family as they were newly arrived immigrants.  Perhaps your forebears never had these struggles but you want to give a helping hand to those in search of their own American dream.  Perhaps you are able to walk in the shoes of these newcomers as they daily face a dizzying amount of written English and you know that you can help.

As a volunteer for “English as a Shared Language” you will be trained to help the newest members of Worcester County understand and speak English.

You will be matched with an eager adult student who has been waiting for a special tutor like you for months.  Your tutoring schedule is flexible and may be arranged directly with your student.
You may be asked to participate in special ESL-related events like the celebration of the U.S. Constitution pictured here.  You’ll be invited to “ESL Exchange” - gatherings hosted by RSVP at
